I haven’t blogged since the inception of my site. I have been extremly busy with school, work, traveling, Razorback games, and of course poker.

I have placed my first bids and can’t wait to see if I’m in the “ballpark” tomorrow.

Good luck to all the other owners and I can’t wait to get to know some of you over the next few months.

Hand of the Year at the PPT

It started out like any other hand at the PPT. One guy all in and everyone else limping in to put him out. I was in the big blind and only had a raise of half my blind to make the call. I did so in the dark. When a rainbow flop came 9-10-Q. I checked in the dark. One more all in and 2 calls later and all of a sudden the pot is now more than double your stating stack and I’m thinking at least two of guys must have K-J. Now it’s on me and I have to finally check my hole cards. What do I see? You guessed it, K-J. I go all-in and the other two guys in the hand make the call. The turn is a two and I am really happy at this moment. Both guys check. The river comes a Q. One player goes all in and the other calls. The result now is four players all in and one with not many chips left in his stack. When the dust cleared, two guys had sucked out a boat on the river after flopping two pair (Q’s full of 9′s) and another player and I were eliminated with the nut straight. Should I have folded the nuts after the flop with such heavy action? The probability that at least one player had trips on the flop (turns out no one actually did) was good, however, I was getting 5:1 on my money. Looking back, I’d do it again.

As some of you know, our daughter Kierstin is a Type 1 diabetic. Each year we participate in a “Walk to Cure Diabetes” that supports JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This is the Hoover family’s first web / blog page. Please look around at our interests. A brief introduction to our family is myself, Jason, my wife Stacie and our daughter, Kierstin (3yo). We are very family orientated and most of our “spare” time is spent with each other playing games, watching television, playing ouside, or going on local adventures.
